Who we are & why we exist
Formed by community members who saw the need for a structured, people-focused organization dedicated to young women, persons with disabilities, and caregivers — championing inclusion and empowerment since 2020.

"I got pregnant at 16 and feared facing the world. SIC gave me back my confidence. My fellow members are like family — and now I mentor other young girls so they don't repeat my mistake."
— Moureen Maina, Young Mother & Community Advocate, LikiiOur Journey
We began in 2020 as a self-help group — neighbours coming together to support one another. In 2026, that grassroots spirit was formalised when we registered as She Is Change (SIC) CBO, giving our work a wider reach and official voice.
Our Vision
An inclusive and empowered community where young mothers, persons with disabilities, and caregivers live with dignity, equality, and opportunity.
Our Mission
To empower and support young mothers, persons with disabilities, and caregivers through advocacy, mentorship, capacity building, and community development initiatives.
Our Values
Dignity, inclusion, transparency, grassroots ownership, and sustainability guide every decision and program we run.
Our Community
We are rooted in Likii and Nturukuma, serving families across Laikipia East in partnership with local leaders, schools, health facilities, and government agencies.
